Hethersett Memorial Playing Field was established by the people of Hethersett in 1959 in memory of local men who losttheir lives serving in World War Two. It is a Charitable Trustlooked after by a committee of Management Trustees.
Since its beginning the playing field has been a popular and busy place providing a home for a wide range of leisure activities, both formal and informal. The formal activities include facilities for Hethersett Athletic Football Club, l, Hethersett Hawks Cycle Speedway, HMPF Bowls Club, Hethersett Croquet Club and cricket (currently featuring NCR, cricketers of more senior years). There are also many, many casual visitors, amusing themselves with children, pets and friends or just enjoying having somewhere to spend some quiet solitary time.
Over the years the park has grown in size and the range amenities available have extended. In more recent times the Parish Council managed an ambitious project to replace limited and rather run-down changing rooms with an impressive new pavilion.
What has come to be called The Hethersett Hub is divided into two distinctive parts. Half of the building provides highquality changing facilities for the various sports clubs, and the other half of the premises provides an impressive community hall, kitchen and toilets. These amenities provide a perfect venue for almost any gathering, including regular classes or clubs, parties, concerts, sales events, conferences and meetings, receptions, dances and performances.
