Happy, Healthy, Hethersett ….our Pathway to Net Zero
Hethersett Parish Council’s Climate Emergency Response Team (CERT), in partnership with the team at Opergy Net Zero, is excited to announce the development of a comprehensive Action Plan to support Hethersett’s journey to achieve net zero emissions by 2040.
Through ongoing collaboration and workshops, CERT has worked closely with experts at Opergy Net Zero to create a roadmap that will reduce carbon emissions while simultaneously enhancing biodiversity and improving the well-being of residents.
Hethersett has set an ambitious yet achievable goal to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2040. This plan provides a clear roadmap for the community – residents, businesses, and the parish council – to reduce emissions, improve the quality of life in Hethersett, and build a resilient, sustainable future for the community.
Importantly, this is a journey that the whole community will embark on together, not an overnight transition. By taking practical, tailored, step-by-step actions, the community can work in unison to create a real and lasting impact for all.
The plan maps a route to net zero emissions by 2040 and outlines the strategies to improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance green spaces for biodiversity. It is designed to meet the community’s needs, from residential areas to local businesses, ensuring that the transition to a low-carbon future is both inclusive and sustainable.
This report also takes the identified local carbon dioxide emissions baseline and assesses findings achieved through extensive community engagement. It outlines the tailored strategic roadmap to net zero emissions by 2040, providing clear milestones and actions that will lead Hethersett toward its sustainability goals.
